[認識信義宗人物]今天是James M. Kittelson (1941-2003)逝世紀念日。

James M. Kittelson是Ohio State Univ.歷史學榮休教授。1963年自St. Olaf College畢業，1969年在Lewis Spitz的指導下，於Stanford Univ.獲得博士學位，主修改革時期歷史。他先在Univ. of Iowa任教四年，然後加入Ohio State Univ.歷史系，任教達26年。

James M. Kittelson致力於路德及信義宗改革史的研究，他出版過三本書：Wolfgang Capito from Humanist to Reformer (1975), Luther the Reformer (1986)和Toward an Established Church: Strasbourg from 1500 to the Dawn of the Seventeenth Century (2000)其中Luther the Reformer一書最廣為人知。近三十年來，他也是改革歷史研究的領導者，並且擔任Studies in the Reformation和Lutheran Quarterly的編輯委員。

Kittelson也是一位敬虔的信徒，在其生命和學術中，他持續與信義宗教會保持緊密的互動。1997年，他受邀至Luther Seminary (St. Paul)教授教會歷史，並擔任改革研究計畫主持人，專門收集16世紀有關路德及信義宗的印刷資料。
