To Be a Theologian of the Cross

[認識信義宗人物]5月4日是Gerhard Sauter (1935-)的生日。

Gerhard Sauter生於Kassel，父親Hermann Sauter是牧師。1954-56年在Tübingen大學研修神學和哲學，1956-59年在Göttingen大學修讀，1961年以"Die Theologie des Reiches Gottes beim älteren und jüngeren Blumhardt"為主題之論文獲博士學位。

1961-62年他曾擔任Hesse和Waldeck的教區牧師。1965年完成教授資格論文（論文主題：The Future and promise. The problem of the future in the current theological and philosophical discussion ），1968年他接替Pannenberg，擔任Mainz大學系統神學教授。1972年起，他前往Bonn大學任教，並於1976擔任普世研究所所長。
